Optical emission spectroscopy and Total combustion methods
MIS Testing can provide a comprehensive chemical analysis service covering metallic and non-metallic materials. The main technique available is Optical emission spectroscopy (OES), a rapid chemical analysis service for solid samples of carbon, low alloy and high alloy steels. Analysis for nitrogen in alloys such as duplex stainless steel or 6Mo is also available. Total combustion methods are available for carbon and sulphur and ‘wet’ techniques are used for determination of certain elements and for materials in non-solid form. X-ray dispersive analysis and positive material identification can be undertaken where required, as well as a range of more sophisticated techniques such as infra red spectroscopy, chromatographic methods, thermal analysis methods and uv-visible spectrometry.
In summary:
- Optical emission spectrometry
- Atomic absorption spectrophotometry
- Total combustion
- Wet methods
- SEM – EDAX
- Infra red spectrophotometry
- Chromatography
- Thermal analysis
- Uv-visible
