UKAS Scope Expanded to include Positive Material Identification:

Positive Material Identification

MIS Testing is pleased to announce further additions to our UKAS scope of accreditations. Positive Material Identification, a site based activity, can now be offered as an accredited service from all three MIS Testing laboratories. This enhances the service which has been available for over 12 months already, and we operate in full compliance with Ionising Radiation Regulations as appropriate to the equipment used.

Diffusible Hydrogen in Parent Materials and Weldments:

Diffusible Hydrogen in Parent Materials and Weldments

MIS Testing is pleased to announce the acquisition of state of the art equipment for the determination of diffusible hydrogen in parent materials and weldments. The instrument is a G4 Phoenix DH manufactured by Bruker Elemental GmbH of Kalkar in Germany. MIS currently operate the only such instrument in the UK.

This is a major step forward in the expansion of the highly technical services offered by MIS from its three UK facilities, supplemented by a strong technical team to provide unparalleled service to discerning clients. With implications in welding, corrosive environments and pipeline protection systems, a knowledge of the level of hydrogen in materials is necessary to assess the risk to critical structures.
